Best Christmas Activities for the Family

It’s Christmas time, you’re looking for things to put you in the holiday spirit and get the family involved. Sometimes that seems impossible to do and not be freezing outside, at least here in Utah. Here are some activities that are family friendly, some that are indoors, that can help your family get into the holiday spirit this year!

Family Christmas Movies

We love watching Christmas movies every year to help put us in the Christmas spirit. Our top three favorite Christmas movies we watch every year are: Home Alone 1 and 2, Christmas Vacation, The Grinch and The Holiday.

Christmas Puzzle

Puzzles always put us in the holiday spirit and this one is the perfect big city, Christmassy, cozy vibes. Some of our very favorite holiday puzzles are here

The Giving Machine

The Giving Machines are such a special way to serve and get the kids involved. We let the kids each pick out something to buy and love watching their faces light up as their picks fall to the bottom. It’s such a neat way to help out all around the world. You can find your nearest Machine here.

Ice Skating

Ice skating is such a fun activity! Bundle up and get some exercise together. And if you have little kids you can put them in the stroller and push them around. You also have the added bonus of holding onto something so you don’t fall.

Lights

Load up the kids, turn on the Christmas music, give everyone hot chocolate and find good Christmast lights in your area that you can drive through or drive by and park to watch. Everyone loves this and you don’t have to get out of the car! Here is a map of a bunch of free places to see lights here in Utah. So many good ones.

Christmas Cookies

It doesn’t feel like Christmas until we make sugar cookies (or these brookies are really good too). This can also double as neighbor gifts if the kids do a good job or you want to join in as well.

Find a really good Santa

Find your favorite Santa and go take pictures with the kids every year. This is a fun, simple way to get into the holiday spirit. And if you didn’t have time for family pictures this year, this can double as an easy Christmas card. You can also put the Santa pictures out on display and see how much everyone has grown each year.

Snowflakes

Last but not least, cut out and hang paper snowflakes around your house especially if you don’t have snow this time of year. A fun, family project that can get the whole family involved.
