If there’s one thing I love almost as much as a good meal or a family trip…it’s finding a solid outfit.
Over the years, I’ve definitely figured out the style I naturally gravitate toward. Think:
- Preppy
- Classic
- Comfortable
- Slightly “country club dad headed to grab a Diet Coke” vibes 😅
I’ve always loved brands like Ralph Lauren, Vineyard Vines, Brooks Brothers, and Lacoste (to name a few) because they just nail that timeless look. The problem?
👉 Sometimes those prices are…aggressive.
And listen, I have four kids. There’s only so much I can justify spending on a quarter zip 😅
So I’m starting a new series here on The Modern Dad:
The Look for Less
The idea is simple:
I’ll find outfits and styles I genuinely love from Pinterest, Instagram, TikTok, or brands I follow—and then I’ll recreate the same vibe at a much more affordable price.
Not knockoffs.
Not fake designer stuff.
Just:
👉 Similar looks
👉 Same aesthetic
👉 Better price point
Because honestly, style doesn’t have to cost a fortune.
I want this series to feel realistic for actual dads (or honestly anyone) who want to look put together without spending their entire mortgage payment on one outfit.
You can expect:
- Affordable outfit finds
- Preppy style inspiration
- Seasonal looks
- Everyday dad fashion
- And probably a dangerous amount of striped polos and pullovers
Some of these looks I’ll recreate myself. Some I’ll just share because I genuinely think they’re great finds.
Either way, I’m excited about this one.
Because if there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s this:
👉 You can still dress well, feel confident, and have great style without paying luxury prices.
And honestly? That feels very Modern Dad to me. So here we go!
