Running in the cold is probably my least favorite thing in the world to do. I am the person that loves running on the treadmill when it’s cold outside, but I know that I need to be getting those miles in outside. Thankfully, there is a lot of amazing winter gear for running outside and today I share my favorites.
When it comes to running outside in the cold, I am the guy with as many layers as possible. I would rather have to take things off than freeze. Items that should be included in your winter gear is a good jacket, gloves, tights, warm socks, and great shoes.
Jacket | Nike Shield $175
I love this because it’s lightweight, but will resist wind and water.
Hoodie | Nike Sportswear Tech Fleece Windrunner $130
Maybe you need something a little warmer and thicker—this is the option for you. I love the three-panel hood with a visor for comfortable coverage.
Sweatshirt | Nike Sportswear Tech Fleece Crew $90
Love this because it gives an extra layer, but is light, soft and warm.
Tights | Nike Pro Hyperwarm $42
These tights are great because the fabric is breathable, but keeps warm air close to your body while wicking sweat away.
Jogger Pants | Nike Tech Fleece Jogger Pants $100
What I love about a jogger pant is the bottom keeps the cold air out and they aren’t constricting.
Training Pants | Nike Dry $65
Maybe the tights and joggers are too warm for you; these are a good option to pair up with the tights. Keeping you warm, but also a looser fit.
Socks | Stance $12-16
A comfortable, warm, and stylish sock are important when being outside—especially the stylish part. Stance will never disappoint. The hardest part is picking which socks to get because they’re all so great.
Shoes | Hoka One One Clifton 3 $130
If you’re going to be running outside, you should be using a shoe that was made specifically for outdoor running. These shoes will blow your mind.
Gloves | Greenlight Running Gloves $17-34
You want to have your hands covered when running in the cold Utah weather. These are some of my favorite gloves because of the tech-tipped fingers making it so you can touch you screen anytime.
Headband | North Face Ear Gear Headband $20
I’m not really a fan of wear a beanie while running, but my ears have to be covered. This headband is the perfect solution to keeping your ears and head warm during those cold runs.
