HOT SPRINGS | SPRING BREAK IDEAS

Spring Break is coming up here in Utah and when we were trying to figure out what to do we heard about hot springs and thought that could be fun! Spring in Utah is weird in the best and worst ways. One day it’s sunny and 65 and the next it’s snowing. This year is even weirder because we have already hit 80 and above multiple times!

Hot springs are the perfect middle ground, you’re outside in nature, but still warm and comfortable no matter what the weather decides to do.It’s also perfect because hot springs are simple: show up, soak, and relax. That’s it.

What Makes it So Fun (Especially for Families)

When I first heard about hot springs, I thought the kids would think it was boring. But after doing a ton of research it sounds like it’s perfect for kids! The novelty of sitting in naturally warm weather, if there is a short walk or hike to the hot spring it is like a mini adventure, and there are no screens or distractions, just hanging out.

Things to Know Before You Go

  1. Do your research: Some hot springs are developed and family friendly, others are more natural and rugged. Make sure to pick one that fits your family comfort level.
  2. Go early: Spring Break crowds are real, beat the rush by getting there early.
  3. Bring the basics: Towels, water, sandals or water shoes, and snacks!
  4. Set expectations with kids: Depending on where you go, there may not be changing rooms, bathrooms, or places to rinse off. Framing it as an adventure beforehand helps a lot!

Why This Sounds Perfect for Us

What I like the most about a trip like this that we are not rushed, it doesn’t feel chaotic, and it’s not something we needed a full itinerary for. I love going and doing a lot, and you know I love a good Disney trip, but this has a different feel. It gives us a chance to actually enjoy Spring Break instead of trying to pack it full of activities. And in a season where everything feels like it’s starting up again, sports, school, schedules, it sounds like a great way to reconnect as a family before the school year ends.

If you’re still figuring out your Spring Break plans this year and want something easy, memorable, and a little outside the norm, hot springs are 100% worth trying. Have you ever been? Do you have a favorite? Let us know in the comments below!
