This weekend is one of the best weekends of the year, General Conference weekend! If you aren’t a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints let me tell you why it’s our favorite. We gather as saints to listen to talks from the leaders of our church. It is always uplifting, spiritual, and delightful (well, when the kids are quiet enough that you can hear the speakers). I always walk away inspired by the messages from Prophets and Apostles and ready to face any trials I might be going through again. It is also a great time to gather family together and to make and eat delicious food! We have some family favorites that we pull out every six months for General Conference, and some recipes that we use a gathering as an excuse to make so that we don’t eat it all, cough, cough, Slutty Cheesecake bars.
Cinnamon Rolls
Cinnamon rolls are a classic General Conference dish, and it’s probably because they are so delicious! We like to do them a little differently in our house though, we make them into a wheel and call them sunshine rings because of Emily’s grandma. These are a family favorite and we often make them during the holidays so they always bring special memories with them!

Sweet Treats
If you love Oreos and cheesecake you need to make these! They are a crowd favorite, delicious, and can be prepared beforehand so you can sit and listen without slaving away in the kitchen all day.

It’s fall so maybe you are looking for a dessert that is more fall themed, try this pumpkin cinnamon oatmeal crisp and thank me later. It’s so easy to make and is a twist on your normal apple crisp.

Sometimes we bribe our kids to listen to General Conference by telling them if they hear a certain word they can have a piece of candy. And sometimes we don’t and we just eat all the candy whenever we want to (normally before Sunday sessions, whoops!) But no matter what you do to get your kids to pay attention, you need some candy to snack on, whether that’s candy corn, black licorice, or tootsie rolls, don’t forget the candy! If you’re in Utah check out Jolley’s for my favorite candy, or if you don’t have time to go in store you can check out some of our other favorites here.
Dips
When you need to balance out the sweet with something “more healthy”, at least I tell myself because I’m getting in some vegetables with my dip, try one or both of our favorite dips:
They are both great because you can prepare them both before hand and pull them out when you’re ready for something more savory during the weekend!
