It seems only logical to have our next homeschool theme to be having to do with everything spring. So this week expect all things eggs, flowers, bunnies, lion/lamb. This week’s activities will be some of your favorites.
Reading
Here are a few of my theme books. Green Eggs and Ham, Horton Hatches an Egg, An Egg is Quiet, Country Bunny, Runaway Bunny, Rechenka’s Eggs to name a few. (I’ve split this weeks activities into a few different days, Dr. Seuss, Eggs, bunnies, lion/lamb.) So depending on your day, you can read different books. Check out our Favorite Easter books here.]
Egg CVC scramble and word creation.
Writing
Write a story about how the Easter bunny lost his hop. Decorate the egg. Remember depending on ages, it will look very different. Younger kids might color their story. Preschool aged might dictate a story and Kindergarteners will write and you will have to piece the language together for their story.
Here is a fun writing template that could be used to write the story in.
My Easter tradition writing prompt.
Math
Eggs in a Nest story problems.
Egg cracking counting. Create 10 eggs with numbers inside them. Children will use a paper punch to make the same number of holes as the number listed on the egg. If a paper punch is too hard, draw dots or use stickers.
Science
Green eggs and ham experiment.
Color changing flowers experiment.
Art
Spring art ideas.
Toilet roll flowers.
Center Ideas
- Plastic Egg recording sheets. (letters, words, math)
- Sight Word Egg hunt. I just wrote high frequency words on the eggs but you could use spelling words or names of family. Both my kinder and preschooler were able to find and write all twelve words that I hid. Here is a little graphic organizer to use to record your words once they were found.
- Create a flower arrangement.
