10 THINGS TO DO ON A RANDOM FALL SATURDAY

If you find yourself with an open Saturday this fall, don’t panic! I know it doesn’t happen often, but sometimes the stars align, no one has any games, the house is clean and you all just want to get out. But what do you do? The weather is cooler, the leaves are changing and it doesn’t last for forever. So grab the kids and make some memories!

1. Go Get Donuts

Start the day with donuts. That’s it. That’s the plan.

Find a local place, go to the grocery store, grab hot chocolate or cider and start the day off right.

Bonus points if you let mom sleep in and surprise her.

2. Take a Fall Drive

Load everyone in the car, let everyone pick a song or turn on a fall playlist and go look at the leaves.

You don’t need to know exactly where you’re going, but sometimes that does help. Check out our favorite places to see the leaves in Utah here.

3. Have a Family Football Game

Head to a park or your backyard and start a family football game. Let the kids make the rules, pick teams and change it up as you go.

It doesn’t need to be competitive, but it does need to be fun.

Need more players? Ask the neighbors to play!

4. Go on a Fall Hike

There might not be much longer where you have 80 degree weather, so go out before it snows!

Pick a trail that works for your family, bring snacks and let the kids set the pace.

Perk it’s cool enough to not be sweating and not need sunscreen.

5. Make Something With Apples

Apple picking can be so much fun with kids or it can be the worst thing you have done. And you might end up with seven bags of apples you have to do something with.

If you don’t want to pick apples, you can make something instead. A pie, an apple crisp, caramel to dip them in.

Nothing screams fall more than an apple treat.

6. Go to a Local Football Game

High school, college, 8 years old, whatever you want! Support your local players by cheering them on!

Sometimes the most memorable Saturdays are the ones where you’re just sitting on the sidelines.

7. Check Out a New Park

The weather will turn and it won’t be as fun to play at the park. Go check out the one you promised you’d go to all summer but never had the time.

Ride your bikes there, play football, have a race, whatever your kids are into.

It’s something they won’t forget quickly..

8. Have a Fall Movie Afternoon

We all need a lazy night in, especially if it’s rainy.

Make some popcorn, grab blankets, turn on a favorite fall movie, or one the kids haven’t seen before and spend the afternoon on the couch.

9. Check Out the Local Fall Festival

Nothing screams fall to me like visiting our favorite fall festival. The kids love it, you get to enjoy a night out with the family and they normally have delicious treats.

Our favorite is Cross E Ranch and they have the best donuts. If you’re looking for somewhere to go in Utah, go to Cross E Ranch. I have a discount that also applies automatically at check out if you use this link.

10. End the Day With a Favorite Fall Dinner

After you’ve spent the day outside finish it with something warm and easy that everyone will eat.

Chili, soup, tacos, pizza, Hawaiian haystacks, whatever your family loves.

The Best Saturdays Can Be the Ones You Don’t Plan

You don’t have to spend a ton of money, or any money. You just have to make the time to spend together.

You can let the kids plan it or just see where the day takes you. As long as you have fun and have a good attitude, those are the days that you and the kids will remember.
