1. Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming

Price Range: Budget to Moderate

If your family loves the great outdoors, Yellowstone is a must-visit. From geysers and hot springs to bison and bears, this park is a natural wonderland. Camping is budget-friendly, or you can stay in one of the historic lodges. Don’t forget to check out Old Faithful – it’s a crowd-pleaser!

Seriously, I was shocked with how much fun this trip was. Granted, it’s a lot of driving, but the views are absolutely gorgeous and completely worth it. Remember, if you have a child entering the 4th grade this year, take advantage of the FREE national park pass. This could come in handy for other trips you could do this year.

2. Orlando, Florida

Price Range: Moderate to High

Orlando is the ultimate family vacation destination. With world-famous theme parks like Disney World, Universal Studios, and SeaWorld, there’s something for everyone. Be sure to take advantage of package deals and off-peak discounts. Remember, a day with Mickey Mouse is a day well spent!

We are major Disney fans here, but only been to Disney World once (when Nixon was a year old). I think the wildest part of the trip was when we went to a random gas station and there was an alligator just hanging out in parking lot as you walked in.

3. San Diego, California

Price Range: Moderate

San Diego offers a perfect blend of beach fun and city attractions. Spend the day at the San Diego Zoo, explore Balboa Park, or relax on the stunning beaches. Don’t forget to visit LEGOLAND California for a day full of building and creativity!

I think this might be our new yearly vacation spot. We absolutely love San Diego and this year thinking of throwing in a Padres game (if possible), but we love the zoo and our favorite place to eat is Hodadies. Seriously, the only place I have ever been when I didn’t have any toppings on the burger taken off. It was delicious!! And we always hit up the great shopping.

4. Washington, D.C.

Price Range: Budget to Moderate

For a vacation that’s both educational and entertaining, head to the nation’s capital. Many of the museums and attractions, like the Smithsonian and National Zoo, are free! Explore historic monuments, take a paddle boat ride on the Tidal Basin, and enjoy a picnic on the National Mall.

Never have I ever been, but it’s always been on my list of places here in the states that I need to visit. I think it would be such an amazing experience to do with my kids. Love learning with them.

5. Myrtle Beach, South Carolina

Price Range: Budget

Myrtle Beach is a fantastic budget-friendly destination with a ton of family fun. Enjoy miles of sandy beaches, mini-golf courses, and the famous boardwalk. Plus, there are plenty of affordable accommodation options, from hotels to beachside rentals.

The images of South Carolina got me! It looks absolutely gorgeous and I feel like it would be the coolest trip to take your family.

6. Grand Canyon, Arizona

Price Range: Budget to Moderate

The Grand Canyon is a breathtaking destination that offers a unique family adventure. Hike the trails, take a mule ride, or enjoy a rafting trip on the Colorado River. Camping is very affordable, or you can stay in nearby lodges for a bit more comfort.

Why is this the thing people are doing? Oh I know—because it’s amazing! I went and saw it when I was little and just feel like my kids would love it! Plus, for us, it’s a simple roadtrip that we could do over a weekend without needing tons of planning.

7. New York City, New York

Price Range: Moderate to High

For a mix of urban excitement and cultural experiences, New York City is unbeatable. Visit the Statue of Liberty, Central Park, and Times Square. Check out family-friendly Broadway shows, and don’t miss the interactive exhibits at the American Museum of Natural History.

Our go to trip as a couple is New York City, but to be able to go with our kids could be so much fun! I just want to take the girls to the American Girl store (okay, Emily is that one that does, but we know I don’t hate the idea) and the boys to a baseball game. Not just that, but we have so many memories in NYC and to add our kids to those would be a dream come true.

I did take Nixon once and it was a little tough, but I think we could do it and the kids would remember it forever.

8. Outer Banks, North Carolina

Price Range: Budget to Moderate

The Outer Banks offer a serene and scenic getaway with beautiful beaches and rich history. Explore the Wright Brothers National Memorial, go kite flying, or try your hand at surfing. Rent a beach house for a cozy family retreat without breaking the bank.

I think the TV show is what got us interested, but when I looked into it more I was shocked at how family friendly it is. Plus, so many things I know my kids would love, and that alone sells me.

9. Hawaii (Maui or Kauai)

Price Range: Moderate to High

For a tropical paradise, head to Hawaii. Maui and Kauai are both great options with family-friendly resorts, beautiful beaches, and activities like snorkeling, luaus, and volcano tours. It’s a bit of a splurge, but the memories made here are worth every penny.

My entire life has been going to Kauai and it’s been a blessing to be able to take our kids. They love it! But this year we were able to go to Maui for the first time and I see why people love it so much. For sure a splurge vacation, but you will never regret going to the islands.

10. Smoky Mountains, Tennessee/North Carolina

Price Range: Budget to Moderate

The Smoky Mountains offer endless outdoor adventures for families. Hike the scenic trails, go white-water rafting, or take a scenic drive through Cades Cove. Stay in a cozy cabin or camp under the stars for an unforgettable mountain experience.

If I am going to the outdoors and enjoy being surrounded by wilderness I want to go somewhere absolutely memorable. I have friends that live by there and have told me about how gorgeous it is. Soooo let’s give it a whirl, shall we?
