Making Time for Lunch with Friends: Simple Ideas for a Perfect Meet-Up

I have received so many questions about our latest Lunch with Friends that I thought I’d share all of our details right here! Jason and I both love gathering friends and feel it so important to bring people into our home. Our goal is to do something every month with neighbors, friends or family.

Invitations

There are lots of ways to do this.

Text Message:

If it’s a small group, I create a text and copy paste the information. I like to send invites in small group texts so that people can make connections with other invitees. I think if you know at least one other person invited, you are more likely to go. Then invitees can reach out to each other and communicate on other threads.

Invitation:

If it’s a larger group gathering like a shower or lunch with friends, I like to make an invitation and text it out. You can still text it out in groups or do it individually. There are so many free sources to create invitations these days. I often use CANVA or Greetings Island ($26 a year to subscribe). You can mail or hand deliver printed invitations too.

Here is the invitation I made for our Lunch with Friends. It is from Greetings Island.

The Menu

It really doesn’t matter what you make, I’ve found that people just want an excuse to be together. Human connection is the greatest gift you can give! For our recent Lunch with Friends, this was our menu:

Jason’s Homemade Bread

Mango Chicken Pasta Salad

Mandarin Salad

Creamy Spinach Dip by A Teaspoon of Home

Veggie Tray

Soft Gingersnaps by A Teaspoon of Home

Gingersnaps

Chocolate Chip Cookies

You could probably serve anything! We always end up with way too much food, but it is the friendships that we are focused on. In this fast paced world, it is so refreshing to slow down and connect with people.

If this seems overwhelming for you, just invite people over to talk. I’ve done cookie nights for the neighborhood women, book clubs, walk and talks, Chick-fil-a meet ups and so much more! It doesn’t have to be an event but for me it is so much fun to throw together.
