Why is it that when a doctor tells you something you choose if you want to listen or not? I am pretty sure when I found out that I was lactose intolerant that was the last thing that I wanted to hear, but could it be true that if I did refrain from the dairy I really might feel better more often?
It’s funny because I can eat cereal in the morning with milk and be fine that day. Who doesn’t want to eat cereal? I love it.
Even putting cheese on my eggs in the morning I feel fine.
Now ice cream, on the other hand, I have major issues. Stabbing pain that is worse than the pain I had when I had knee surgery.
Believe it or not, if I take one of these crazy pills 15 minutes before having dairy I seem to be totally fine. If it’s not at least 15 minutes I have issues.
So why am I telling you all this? No one wants to hear about someone else’s bowel problems, but I know there are people out there that make it work. I have decided that I am going to make a change and why wait? I have a child and family to live for and be healthy for.
I have decided that the month of February is going to be “Dairy Free February” and I won’t have any dairy for a month. I feel like if I can do it for a month and I don’t feel any different then I will go back to the same old risky ways. Can I do this? I can do anything for a month. I’ll keep you posted and let me know what you do if you have the same problem.
Poor guy! I know exactly how that feels! And to make it worse I come from the Wonder Dairy family so milk was a huge part of my growing up. Ice cream was the one thing that really made my life miserable if I had it which is a crying shame. I now use almond, rice, or coconut milk products to replace the dairy. You can even make your own if you’re adventurous…. which I not so far anyway. I wouldn’t recommend soy substitutes as soy is a imitates estrogen in the body which can lead to weight gain–just ask Jillian Michaels. One lucky thing I have figured out is that harder cheese have no lactose so I am fine with those. I have done so much reseach on the dairy-intolerance thing, I could go on and on..if you want some more info/help I can email you. I have been dealing with dairy intolerance since high school.
Such great information!!! Thanks for this. I had no idea about the harder cheese, good thing I love softer cheeses 🙁 RATS!!!
