What did you say? I can’t hear you! whenever I am listening to music, the person 12 feet away can always hear clearly what I am listening to. This may be a problem and I am sure it’s the major cause of why I can’t ever hear what my wife is trying to tell me. Because of this, I always worry when my three year old son uses headphones. How can I check if they are too loud or if he is blasting his iPad to hear something? Thankfully, I have found headphones that couldn’t have come into my life at a better time; Puro Sound.
The Real Stats
Some statistics when it comes to Noise Induced Hearing Loss (NIHL) will shock you:
- 1 in 5 teens in the U.S. has NIHL
- Teen hearing loss up to 30% since mid 90’s
- 50% of people worldwide between 12-35 yrs old are at risk of NIHL due to increase use of portable audio devices (1.1 Billion people)
- This crisis is 100% preventable
The World Health Organization calling the next big epidemic. Earphones on the ears of children and adults constantly! This is causing irreversible hearing loss. Whether it be music, movies or even hands-free phone use – this byproduct of our portable media devices is unknowingly creating a HUGE problem – one that most are unaware of until it is too late.
Puro Sound’s Story
Puro Sound Labs has the solution. After finding out that his daughter had been victim of NIHL from listening to her music with standard earbuds, Dave Russell developed the only studio grade, stylish, high quality headphone that limits the volume to a healthy 85 dB without compromising the sound. Puro has also introduced an adult version that allows the volume to surpass 85dB but puts user in control by showing current volume level.
My Personal Experience
When traveling with a toddler, you’re basically going to turn to any means possible to make their experience (and the ones around) more enjoyable. So many times my son wanted to watch a show on our trip and I was worried because he tends to turn the volume all the way up, distracting everyone around him. No one wants that on a plane, and especially when we all have to ride in a car together. Puro sound headphones were able to not only keep us from all having to listen to Toy Story and Monsters University multiple times but kept him entertained too.
These bluetooth headphones are the perfect item for your kid’s carry on. How many times have all your things been wound up in the cords in your bag? You want something you can grab quickly, keep your kid happy and parents sane.
I was shocked with how long the headphone battery lasted. We were gone for 10 days and never charged them once. We drove from St. Louis to Nauvoo (a four hour drive) and my son was watching shows on the iPad. Then driving from Nauvoo to Chicago (another four hour drive) he used his headphones again. When we were packing up to head home for our three hour flight we noticed that we had left the headphones on (about four days) and we thought we should charge them. We didn’t bring the charger and freaked out a little because he would not last the flight without entertainment. The entire flight his Puro headphones worked and didn’t cut out on him once.
