Working towards my 2019 goals had been going well. I was getting up every morning, had my routine, and then I went out of the country and it seemed like everything was shaken up. Have you ever had those moments when you have a goal, you were working hard towards it, only to come across an obstacle?
Work, Work, Work, Work
I know what you are thinking. You are saying to yourself, “Jason, you were able to travel to Rome and Greece. What do you have to complain about?” Well, you are right. That was an amazing trip and I saw some awesome things, but at the end of the day, I was there strictly for work.
Flying into Rome, I was thrown right into work mode. Being there to get on a ship for a seven-day cruise through Greece would make anyone excited. But since I was working, I stayed in my room from 7:45 am to 9:30-10:00 pm every day. I loved it, but it completely threw off my schedule.
Even on the cruise ship, I would wake up at my normal time (4:00 am) and go running on the treadmill, but that could only last so long and when I came back, I was thrown off even more than I had been before.
Much Needed Retail Therapy
Getting back, I again was thrown right back into things. Isn’t that how it is when you have a family though? There aren’t breaks. Plus, I had just been gone. I didn’t need a break as much as my wife did. Once I was able to get used to the time change and was feeling somewhat normal again, it was time to take her out.
We took a much-needed date night, leaving the kids with their uncle, and enjoyed dinner and shopping together. I wasn’t worried about any of it because I’m always earning on all of my purchases with my Chase Freedom Unlimited cash back credit card. Earning 1.5% cash back on every purchase, I was ready to not only spoil my wife, but maybe get myself something nice too.
The best part for me was when I was purchasing some shirts, I found that I needed to get a smaller size. It looks like all the exercise and extra running around I did on the cruise actually paid off.
What’s Next?
Now that I am back on track, I have been sticking to my regular running routine. Not only have I been running, but I also incorporated weight training by attending F45 workouts. This next month I want to focus on weight training exercises and getting stronger.
Not only that, but I think I might need to get myself some new running shoes and accessories. You will just have to wait and see what I get next with my cash back credit card. And who knows, maybe I’ll sign up for another big race for the year, since I get really motivated when I sign up for things like races. Have any suggestions?
