IG REVIEW SEPTEMBER 14-18

Going back to school this week finally made it feel like it’s fall. Helping in the school is one of my favorite things, but don’t get me wrong there are things that I don’t do: field trips, parties, things like that. I love helping where I can, but I also know what my limits are. And I love getting to know who my kids are talking about. We volunteered, went to the state fair, played so much hide-and-seek, and so much more this week, it was a great week!

STRIPPING. 😏

Laundry stripping, people. Get your minds out of the gutter. 😂

If your towels, sheets, workout clothes, or basically anything washable are feeling a little…blah…this is your sign to STRIP THEM.

Here’s what I use:

🧺 1/4 cup Borax

🧺1/4 cup laundry soap

🧺1/2 cup laundry detergent

🔥 HOT water

Mix it all together, add your laundry and let everything soak for 6-8 hours. And just WAIT until you see that water. 🤢

Once it’s done soaking, run everything through your washer on a quick cycle WITHOUT adding any more detergent. Dry like normal and prepare to be shocked at how much cleaner, fresher, and better everything feels.

It’s oddly satisfying. Slightly disgusting. And 100% worth it.

Now go strip your laundry. 😂

Apparently I’m going back to school. 🎒✏️😂

Today was officially my first day of school…volunteering.

And yes, obviously I’m obviously I’m there to help the teachers. They have PLENTY going on, and if I can make their day even a little easier, I’m happy to do it.

But let’s be real about the other reason I volunteer…

I need to know these kids. 😂

Who are my kids sitting by? Who are they talking about at dinner? Who’s the funny one? Who’s the quiet one? Who’s causing the chaos? WHO ARE THESE PEOPLE?! 😂

I want to know the name and the faces that are parts of my kids’ live every single day. Because when they come home and tell me a story about something that happened at school, I actually know who they’re talking about.

So yes, I’m volunteering to help the teachers.

But I’m also there to gather intel. Duh. 😂

First day back: COMPLETE. Now I just need my school picture and a lunchbox.

Sometimes spending quality time with you kids really is as simple as getting down on their level and doing the thing THEY love.

And apparently at our house, that means a roaring game of hide-and-seek. 😂

Legit, we have probably played this every single day for the past couple of weeks, and my kids are LOVING it. Same hiding spots. Same screams when someone gets found. Same chaos. And somehow they’re ready to it all over again the next day.

I think sometimes we put too much pressure on ourselves to create these huge, memorable experiences for our kids when really, the things they’ll remember might be the simplest ones–the games we played, the laughs we had, and the fact that we stopped what we were doing and joined them.

And not that you can’t do those things mentioned. Heck, I know we have (not the WDW season pass, but you know what I mean)!

At least, that’s the hope, right? 💓

So tell me: what are you doing with your kids right now that you hope they’ll remember forever?

Stories

Emily has hosted two groups for lunch this week and I benefited from her cooking, which is the best. She made our favorite rolls and if you haven’t made them yet, you are missing out!

Stampin’ Up in my favorite place to get paper and our paper chains are still going strong. If you need paper definitely check them out.

If your spouse or your teen is in need of a shaver this is the best one that I have found. And this is the one that I use for my beard when I want to just trim it.

Have you ever looked into the benefits of creatine? It is so important and good for men and women. If you need a good one check this one out, it’s what I’ve been using recently and loving!

I went all out and washed so much this week and I was reminded how much I love Beddy’s and the new option to unzip the sheet from the zipbase so you don’t have to wash the whole set if you don’t want to. Game changing! We have this set for Nixon’s room, but you can’t go wrong with any of them! And don’t forget to use code moderndad at check out for a discount.

Now that school has started and it has cooled down a little bit I’m getting excited to start doing all the fall things.
