Trying to get a toddler to eat something healthy is like trying to herd cats; it’s impossible. At least is seems that way and I always feel like I just want to give up and let my son eat whatever he wants, as long as he’s happy. But it doesn’t have to be that way. Why not try making something they used to love to eat, but add a new twist to it? I give you, grilled cheese roll ups.
Growing up I loved anything in sandwich form: PB&J, grilled cheese, ham and cheese. I loved sandwiches! I still love eating PB&J to this day. There is something about it that makes me think of the easier times we like to call childhood. So I thought my son would be just like me and love eating sandwiches.
He is the type that if you get him liking one thing, he will quickly get over it and want nothing to do with it. He wants you to present him with something new every time he eats. It gets exhausting, but makes lunch making a little more exciting. Hence the reason I thought of these grilled cheese roll ups.
I didn’t want to make him something that he probably wouldn’t eat that would also take me hours to figure out how to make (I’ve done that and learned from the mistake). This is why I thought, if I can just present him with a food that he already loves and give it to him in a different way, that would be ideal.
Give them a try and see for yourself how easy lunch making can be for both toddler and parent. You’ll be glad that you did.
