Downtown Salt Lake City is full of delicious restaurants that you can’t find anywhere else. One that always stands out to me is Spitz. Serious, one of my absolute favorite restaurants that I think as a parent we tend to think it’s not kid friendly. Well, you’re wrong and let me share with you our recently amazing experience.
Having two kids that are constantly wanting to be entertained while eating is difficult. Basically it makes every meal out of the house end up at Chick-Fil-A. Recently we were downtown and I thought, it’s time to make a change and try a favorite of ours; Spitz.
When you walk into the restaurant you automatically feel welcome and warm. You walk in and you think, “I don’t know if this is going to be a place for my kids,” but honestly you won’t be disappointed.
No matter what you order, you will definitely be full and could even share a meal. We felt starving and wanted to order our own items. Grateful we did because it made for sure a great variety of options.
My kids had eaten, but we can’t go anywhere without them wanting to have whatever we are having. This made us think to order the Fried Pita Strips. If you have kids with you or not, I highly recommend getting an order of these. The crispness of the pita, but then as you bite in there is still the softness there. It’s a perfect starter or finger food for little ones.
Feeling ambitious, I decided to order the Street Cart Fries. A bread type pan filled with their famous fries and topped with garlic aioli, feta, onion, green pepper, tomato, olives and pepperoncinis. Want to really step them up? Get the works and they add a generous portion of meat and zesty feta. Not only are the fries incredible, but you can order it half regular half sweet potato (waffle cut and amazing).
I recommend if you are planning on getting this, it’s an item worth sharing. I probably could have finished it myself, but I didn’t want to pop. It was so much amazing food and it was hard for me to stop myself. I would order that again in a heartbeat and I promise you will love it too.
My wife wasn’t feeling a pan filled with covered fries so she ordered the Street Cart Döner wrap. Filled with garlic aioli, fried lavish chips, romaine, cabbage, tomato, onion, green pepper, cucumber and tzatziki. Pick a choice of beef and lamb, chicken, mixed meat, falafel or vegetarian.
With a side of their amazing fries you will not be disappointed. Bite after bite she couldn’t stop eating. My wife could only eat one of the wraps (saving the other for later) because it was so much food. This is one of those items that you save for later and really is just as good as you remember it.
The kids enjoyed the fried pita strips, colorful walls and friendly staff. Honestly, I would recommend Spitz to anyone traveling to Salt Lake City or already living here. Best part, if downtown isn’t you thing they also have locations in Sugar House and now a new location in Cottonwood. Plus, California residents can enjoy it in San Diego or LA.
What are you waiting for? Head over to Spitz today and grab a wrap, fries and just enjoy city surroundings.
