The morning ritual is something done by even the most successful entrepreneurs. Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook creator, wears the same shirt everyday so he doesn’t waste time trying to decide what to wear. Jack Dorsey, co-founder of Twitter, wakes up at 5:30 am every morning, mediates and then runs six miles. Tory Burch, fashion designer, wakes up every morning and checks her work emails. So does that mean if you want to be successful you should have a morning ritual?
I am the type of person where if my ritual gets mixed up I feel that my entire day is ruined. Since having a morning ritual is has helped me workout harder, have more energy and focus on my workouts and family.
They don’t need to be anything elaborate or crazy, but when you get one you stick to it. What is my morning ritual? Simple…
It starts the night before. I pick out what I want to wear to the gym. I know, it doesn’t matter. But really, it does. If you don’t feel confident and comfortable how are you supposed to feel that way working out? Plus, when I get up my wife is still sleeping and I don’t want to wake her up. Having everything out and ready makes it easier and faster to get ready and go.
Every morning I wake up at 4:45 am. I know that it will take about 15 minutes for me to get ready and out the door. Turn off my alarm and quickly see what’s been happening on Instagram, Facebook and Snapchat. Put on the clothes I picked out the night before and head to the kitchen.
Here is the part that is a little crazy. To really wake me up, I drink warm lemon water. This is to help start your metabolism.
- 8 ounces of water
- 2 tablespoons of lemon juice
- microwave for 30 seconds
That is the easy part. After that I take a raw apple cider vinegar shot (2 tbsp). This is supposed to help with keeping you from getting sick. I hate it! Some people have gotten used to it, but I don’t know how. It’s the worst thing ever and I die every time I drink it.
Once I’m done with that, I grab the keys and head to the gym. My workouts usually consist of either all cardio or a mix of cardio and weights. I am still working on getting the right weight lifting program for what I want to accomplish.
Now, I get home and have to make breakfast because everyone is still sleeping and it’s easier when no one is awake. Every morning I have the same thing:
- 3 egg whites, 1 full egg
- Green peppers
- Cheese
Then the funny thing is, I don’t eat this the second it done. I jump in the shower and once I am clean and dressed I eat. I want it cooled off because I want to eat it fast and get to work.
Because I do this morning ritual every day I personally have felt myself improve. My running has increased because I continually am up and doing it. My health has improved I know that I will help me be more successful as I continue to train.
