Growing up, I had a neighbor that made the most amazing peanut butter bars. For any event there was, scouts, church activities, someone in the neighborhood needed a treat, he would bring them over. They were amazing and everyone knew that if they got peanut butter bars that it meant something.
Well, I’ve thinking that it had been too long since I made something. I pulled out the old recipe books and found a few peanut butter bar recipes. I figured I could mix up some of my favorite parts of each.

Peanut Butter Bar Recipe
Mix together the following ingredients:
1 cup butter
1 cup sugar
1 cup brown sugar
2 eggs
3/4 cup peanut butter
Then add:
3/4 teaspoon baking soda
dash of salt
1 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
2 cups flour
2 cups oats
Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Spread mixture into a greased 12 x 17 inch pan. Take clean fingers and press the mixture onto the pan, spreading it out evenly. Best if you have wet fingers so that the mixture doesn’t stick to them. Bake in oven for 18 minutes, until golden brown. Remove from oven and sprinkle with 1 package of milk chocolate chips. return to oven for one minute to melt chocolate chips. Spread melted chocolate with spoon. Cool before cutting and enjoy.
