Our Hawaii Must Have Items

My family has been going to Hawaii since I was four. Because of that, I feel like I have a little bit of an idea on what to take and not to take. Really, it’s simple, but we make it so complicated and that doesn’t have to happen.

Clearly, we want to take everything, but we don’t have to. Let me break down what our favorite things are that we take to Hawaii with us that have been our absolute go to items.

Travel Bags

Walker Family Goods are our go to travel bags. Not only do we enjoy their duffle bags, but we really love all their stuff. But why? Well, glad you asked.

  • Great fabric quality
  • Zippers that feel sturdy and easy for the kids to use
  • Many fun, cute color options
  • Stackable
  • Option to use a duffle strap and/or backpack straps

When you are looking at their duffle bags, they have the Valley (which is their bigger or full sized option) and the State (smaller, all our kids have these). You are going to get the same quality on both of them, it’s just going to be a size difference.

We got the Valley duffle bags for the whole family since we will be gone for two weeks and need more room for everyone’s stuff.

Hawaii Essentials

Okay, now that we got that out of the way lets really break it down for your must have items.

Here’s the thing, you are going to Hawaii. Are you really going to be doing anything other than swimming, laying out, and hiking? No. So don’t worry a ton about outfits. Just plan on wearing swimsuits the entire time.

Simple basics

You really don’t need a lot of things, but some things that we got that are must have items are the following:

Rubber Bogg Bag | Comes in multiple colors which are all at different prices. Also, be sure to check out all the different accessories.

Stanley Flip Straws | Nice to have water with you everywhere you go to stay hydrated. So we got the 64 oz jug to keep in the car and then 30 oz tumblers to take to the pool and beach. Also, check here for more color options.

Sunglasses | His and Hers

Rubber sandals | His and Hers

Reef Safe sunscreen | To me, Hawaiian Tropic is the smell of Hawaii. Clearly there are lots of reef safe options, this just happens to be my personal favorite.

Swimwear

We may have a bit of an obsession when it comes to buying swimsuits. I mean, if that’s all we are going to be wearing, you won’t be seeing me wearing the same one twice.

Seriously though, here are some of our favorite brands for buying swimsuits that last, are comfortable, and have held up for years making us always go back for more.

Towels

Some people like packing their own towels and some hate it. You hate it because they take up so much space, don’t dry well, hold on to the sand, etc. What if I could solve all those problems?

If you haven’t heard me talk about Geometry towels, you haven’t been here long enough. They are one of my all time favorite towels, but they’re not just for the kitchen.

Their beach towels are going to fix all your needs:

  • Super compact
  • Quick-drying
  • Ultra-absorbent
  • Great size (65” x 31”)
  • Hanging loop

But what I am really excited for are the Beach Blankets. They have the same features as the beach towel, the difference is obviously size (62″ x 65″). Tons of options you don’t want to miss out on.

Best part! If you use code MODERNDAD you can get a discount on these (or any of their products) anytime. But don’t wait because these towels always go fast!
