Mother’s Day is happening this Sunday and no woman should have to worry about what to make for dinner that day. Let me help you out and give you the simplest dessert that you can make that the moms in your life will not only love, but not feel like she shouldn’t have eaten two servings.
Whenever I get presented with the idea of making dessert that a lot of people are not only going to be eating, but also how I will get judged for what I made. You don’t want to shame mom by making some kind of dessert that has way too many calories. This strawberry shortcake trifle sounds like it would be unhealthy, but really it’s not. Plus, it’s going to be the easiest thing you have ever made and every mom in town will be impressed.
What you’ll need is some angel food cake loaves. I just went to the store and bought them, but you can make them if you’d like. I just am making this as simple as possible because we all know us dad’s always get a bad rap when it comes to dessert. Then buy some strawberries and Cool Whip. Normally in a traditional trifle there is custard, but with spring in full force and getting ready for summer swim suit season I decided to opt out of the heavy custard.
Once you have your angel food cake cut into cubes and strawberries sliced, start layering: cake, strawberries, Cool Whip, repeat. do as many layers as you want, but don’t get to out of control. Just make sure you do a good layer of strawberries that that every bite will be filled with those delicious berries.
