I feel like thank you cards are becoming a lost art. I remember growing up I was taught to write thank you cards for the gifts I received for birthdays and Christmas. Why is it that this has become such a lost art? Why do we no longer send a simple thank you card to those that have done something for us? Is it that we don’t want to go to the store to purchase the thank you cards or is it more than that? Why not make a thank you card that you can send to those you appreciate? I love sending thank you cards to anyone that I work with on the blog, to friends who do kind things or even just to let someone know I notice and appreciate them. Making a thank you card adds more than just a little thank you, it shows that you took some time to make something just for the recipient. I’m always a sucker for homemade things and will not throw them away.
I remember when I was first given a homemade card. It was for my birthday and I didn’t think I would be excited, but I was. I knew that the person who made the card took some time to make it personal just for me. Yeah, you can go to a store and try to find a card for someone that you think they would love, but making a card would be even more personable.
Are you like me and you hold on to every card that you are given? I love to pull out old cards that were given to me, read the things that those dear to me have said and then of course I look at what is written by Hallmark. When a card is given to me that is handmade, everything that goes into the card is that much more personal. I love to keep those ones separate from the others because I know that I will love reading them even more than the store bought cards.
Let me help you make a card yourself. This really was the easiest card to make that anyone could do it. All you need is:
Regals Stampin’ Write Markers – Night of Navy marker
I know from experience the power of a thank you card. We keep our house stacked with them because you never know when you’re going to need one. I hope that I can teach my kids, like my parents taught me, the important of showing gratitude to others for their service or gifts. We always write them for our son and have him draw a little picture to go with it. Eventually he will be able to do it on his own and ultimately I hope it becomes a habit to express gratitude towards others. I hope we can all be more thankful and let others know that we are thankful for them and for the things that they do.
