I don’t know where he gets it from, but my son is an adventure seeker. He has no fear and pushes himself further each and every day.
He will climb up the stairs, turn around, and then spring out like he can fly. Only to find out that he can’t luckily there is a parent close by to catch him and make sure nothing happens. But he loves to live on the edge.
Morning time he loves to be in bed with us and he’ll climb all over and when he gets to the edge (which is pretty high) he will still crawl, not knowing what pain would come if we were to let him continue with this fall.
The other day I was thinking about this and it made me realize that I can totally learn from him. He loves to take risks and take chances. He doesn’t know what will happen, but he is always happy and willing to give any situation a chance.
Granted, I make sure that he doesn’t do anything where he will get seriously injured, but I love to watch as he learns and grows from the choices that he makes. I let him try things and say to myself, “Maybe I need to take more risks and try new things more.”
We really can learn a lot from our children and the choices that that make. We need to not only go day to day thinking that we are the teachers and they are the student, but that we are both students together. Learning and growing from this amazing experience that we are living together.
It isn’t always going to be easy to take a risk, but who knows what could come of it. Maybe it’s time to climb those stairs in your life, turn around and take a leap just to see what happens. You never know who could be there to help you out.
