Ah, back-to-school shopping. It’s that time of year again when the air is filled with the scent of freshly sharpened pencils and the sound of credit cards swiping (or really just typing card numbers into the computer when online shopping).
As a dad who loves shopping for his kids, I can confidently say there’s nothing quite like the annual ritual of hunting down the perfect backpack or debating whether neon green shoes are “cool” or “so last year.”
Every summer, like clockwork, the excitement begins. My kids eagerly flip through catalogs and browse online, making lists that rival Santa’s. “Dad, I need this!” and “Dad, everyone has one of these!” are the soundtrack of my life in the summer months. As we venture into the crowded stores, I can’t help but smile. Sure, it’s chaotic, but there’s something magical about it too.
New clothes have a way of making my kids feel invincible. I remember the thrill of strutting into school with a brand-new pair of sneakers. It’s like stepping onto a runway, even if it’s just the school hallway. There’s a boost of confidence that comes with wearing something fresh, stylish, and well, clean. It’s amazing how a new outfit can transform a kid’s outlook on the first day of school.
But let’s be honest, back-to-school shopping isn’t just about the kids. It’s a bonding experience. There’s the joy of seeing their eyes light up when they find the perfect shirt, and the laughter when trying on something utterly ridiculous. “Dad, does this hat make me look like a detective?” Yes, son, but a very cool detective.
In the end, it’s not just about the clothes. It’s about the memories we create. The shared jokes, the excitement of finding a great deal, and the satisfaction of knowing they’re starting the school year feeling their best. So, here’s to another year of back-to-school shopping. May your carts be full, your wallets not too empty, and your kids strut into school with the confidence only a new outfit can bring.
Today, I share with you the things we got for back-to-school that we ended up keeping and my kids loved when they tried them on. A lot of the things we got on sale, and then were able to include a discount on top of those sales. These may have ended, but if not you need to know not to be scared by these brands because the cost can’t be beat.
Personally, I would rather purchase things that will last, then to purchase fast fashion. Here we go! Enjoy and can’t wait to see what you end up getting your kids for school this year too.
