Welcome to The Modern Dad, a place for me to share my experiences being a father, husband, full time worker, fashion lover, clean freak, and person that loves to share his favorite finds with the rest of the world.
For my first post on the new blog I wanted to just say how much I have enjoyed sharing my experiences with all of you. It really has been a wild ride and I am grateful that you all get to experience it with me. So many times I go out and people ask, “Are you The Modern Dad?” It’s kind of weird that people have actually been reading these posts, besides my family of course.
I have honestly loved sharing all the great experiences that come along with being a father. I have enjoyed being spit up on (multiple times), changing blow outs, trying to feed a screaming child, and staying up at night trying to get a teething baby to sleep. These are the moments that come with parenthood, and I wouldn’t trade them for anything in the world…not even Burberry.
I have also loved being able to share with you my fun food finds. I have found complete sanity and a place to think about life and what is in store for me when mixing up some ingredients to make goodies for the neighbors. I have enjoyed finding new recipes and seeing if I am an example of the hilarious Pinterest fails or if I am a pinners dream, sharing recipes that they want to save and try for themselves.
I don’t think I have it all down. I have plenty to learn and that is why I wanted to do a little upkeep and make this place look better. I wanted to let you all know that my family comes first and that I have enjoyed spending all this amazing time I have had with them cuddling my son, spending quality time with my wife, and not having to get home from work at 7:45 pm just to pull out the computer to try to pull a crazy thought out of my mind to share. My life is where I want it to be and I officially have time to balance it all.
And finally I want to say thank you. Thank you for coming up to me at various events or even my work telling me how you have enjoyed reading my stories. Thank you for your kind comments that have encouraged me to work hard and to keep doing what I am doing, being a dad that shares his side of this crazy adventure that so many are experiencing. And I also thank you for the negative comments that have gotten under my skin, but made me want to keep going and not bring me down to their level. I truly love my family and they mean the world to me. So if you think that all that I write about is expensive clothes and that all I want my son to care about is how he looks, then clearly you don’t know me.
I love this adventure and I love giving a fathers perspective. I don’t think I am unique, in that I don’t think I am the only father that cleans, shops, works, does the laundry, plays with his kid, and takes his wife out and shows her that he loves her. I do on the other hand think I am pretty unique in that I try to set an example to my son and to anyone else out there that the mother doesn’t have to do everything. Father’s can help too and can have a say in what goes on in their kids lives. Yes, we all have different things we love, so if we don’t love the same things that is okay. But I hope you know that I truly LOVE my family and love sharing about them with you.
