If you’re like everyone in American on July 11th, you were in line getting your free Slurpee in honor of 7-11 day. I have loved Slurpees since I was little and thought I would find a way to bring them into our home that is just as refreshing, but not so sugary. This watermelon slush is super easy, way less sugar and perfect for everyone during these hot summer months.
After a fun day at the pool in this heat there is nothing more refreshing than a nice cool watermelon slush. Our son loves them and since you make it at home you can decide on if you need more or less sugar added. The more ripe the watermelon the more flavor you will have. But don’t wait too long because we have all had that watermelon that wasn’t the best because we let it sit too long.
You can even have your kids help you make this. They will love being a part of your summer fun and making a treat that the whole family will love. Throwing a few things in the blender is probably why this is the easiest recipe. We have a Ninja that we absolutely love and it blends everything into “resort quality ice,” or at least that’s what they claim. I would have to agree. This is a resort quality drink for the summer that you too will enjoy.
- 4 cups cubed watermelon
- 2 Tbls sugar
- 1/2 the juice of 1 lime
- Put all ingredients in blender and mix well.
- Add some ice to thicken it up and make more slushy.
