Summer is here, which means that we are at the pool all day every day. We love being outside, enjoying the beautiful Utah views and making sure we have plenty of fun in the sun. I wanted to share with you our favorite things you need in your pool bag this summer.
- Puddle Jumpers | If you have non swimmers joining you in the pool like we do, then you are going to want to get yourself some Puddle Jumpers. We love them because they are easy to get on, stay on your child and the keep them safe when playing in or near the pool. Obviously, you’ll want to keep an eye on your kids, but sometimes they get away while your grabbing another Diet Coke, so get one of these on them and your stress level will decrease I promise.
- A good poolside read | When I am at the pool of course I want to get in the water, but I also want to just enjoy the summer heat and relax with a good book. Sometimes this is the only time that I have to get any reading in at all. The best part about poolside reading is that it doesn’t have to be classic novels, you can throw some trash in there if you need to.
- SuperDisc | Who still plays with boring old frisbees anymore? Well, this one is much more than just a frisbee. It floats in the water, making it great for the adults to play with where you can throw it over the pool and dive to grab in mid air. The kids love it because it catches major air. So really it’s fun for everyone.
- Bunch O Balloons | Remember when you were little and you went to a water fight, but it took forever to fill up all the balloons? Well, here in 2016 we are now lazy/efficient to were you can fill up and tie 100 balloons in a minute. Just hook them up to your hose and fill them up. Boom! Let the water fight begin!
- Personal Fan Mister | It gets hot here in Utah and sometimes I don’t want to fully submerge myself in the pool to cool off, I just need a slight mist. These are fantastic! We get them every time we go to Disneyland and they are an absolute lifesaver.
- Maui Babe | Skin cancer is a serious thing, but if you are wanting to get the darkest skin you have ever had then you need to get yourself a bottle of Maui Babe. I buy this every time I got to Hawaii and it’s an absolute dream. You will not regret it, but make sure to mix in a little bit of SPF just to keep your skin safe and healthy.
- Swimsuits | Look, as a guy, I need my options too. If I am going to be at the pool regularly I want to make sure I am constantly changing it up with a comfortable swimsuit. Some of my favorites are from Cubbies, J Crew and Quiksilver.
- Wet Brush | I finally get it ladies, knots are a real thing when it comes to wet hair. Granted my daughter’s hair isn’t long enough to worry about this yet, my wife’s is. It’s always good to just keep a wet brush in your swim bag at all times because what if you are going to a fancy restaurant after swimming? You will want to look your very best.
- Waterproof Phone Bag | You have kids that like to throw your phone? This might not be the best thing if you are near open water. I can’t tell you how many phones I have lost due to water and them being ruined by the water. At the pool, lake, boat, ocean it doesn’t matter, my phone always tends to find it’s way to the water. Throw that thing in a waterproof phone bag and all your cares and worries will wash away.
- Swim Through Rings | Who doesn’t remember having these growing up? If you had them for yourself as a child, then you have to get them for your kids. These are great for helping kids learn how to swim underwater and holding their breath.
- Stream Machine Water Guns | As a parent I hate these things because it means as I am trying to lay out and get my darkest tan on, kids are going to spray me to the bone with their water guns. These are great though because they are easy for kids to refill and oh so much fun.
- Easy Up Pool Tent | The kids need to get out of the sun at some point, and pools tend to not have a lot of shade near by. Grab yourself a pool tent and you’re in business. I love these because like the title says, they’re easy up meaning they are dad friendly. I know that if my family takes this to the water park, they don’t have to have me there to set it up and they will be able to get some good shade while having a blast.
- Circle Beach Blanket | I didn’t think I was a fan of the circle towels, until I tried one out myself. They’re actually really useful because you have more room on your sides if you have a tiny one with you and you want to have them close by. They also are getting more and more popular and cute so get one to throw in your swim bag.
- A Good Water Bottle | You need to stay hydrated, even though you are basically surrounding yourself with water this entire time. You want to have a water bottle that keeps your water ice cold in the blistering heat. The Klean Kantean is the best water bottle out there because you fill it with ice and then water and you will have ice cold water for HOURS!
- The Floating Cooler | Maybe you want to just float in the pool and are like me, you’re too lazy to get out of the pool to grab yourself another Diet Coke. Well, then this is just what you need. Keeps your drinks nice and cold while you float off into a relaxing cool day in the pool.
- Natives | Look, I wasn’t a fan of these until I had kids and realized how utterly amazing they are. Breathable shoes that can get wet, stay on and give your child’s feet protection. I love Natives because they are so easy for my son to get on himself and they stay on while he runs around and enjoys the outdoors.
- Fun Inflatable | I know the flamingos and the food inflatables are the thing lately, but I am sticking with the oldie but goodie inflatable alligator. Really we love having a big fun floaty for the pool to lounge on or jump on. It always wears the kids out and makes nap time a billion times easier.
- Mini Water Guns | These are cheap and they are fun for all ages. even the littlest of kids love to have a little bit of fun getting others wet and these guns to just the trick.
- Sunglasses | I usually hate wearing sunglasses because I hate getting the sunglass tan lines on my face. But as I am getting older I feel like my site has been getting worse because I was never wearing sunglasses to protect my eyes. I love these ones by Spy Optics.
- The Best Poolside Bag | We are bag people. We love bags so much that we have a bag for all of our bags. So to find the perfect pool bag we love our Of One Sea tote bag because it’s not to big, but it’s got just enough room to hold all the things we need to take us across the street to our pool.
