When I found out we were having a little boy I was ecstatic because I knew that I was going to dress us in matching father son fashion. I mean, what dad doesn’t love doing that right? Okay most dads hate it, but I was so excited and ready to have a little mini me running around.
I think what people tend to think of when they are having a little kid and dressing like them they think they have to dress in the kid’s style, but that’s not the case for us. I love buying stuff for my son that looks like or is exactly what I have but in his size.
Here’s a few looks we love where we matched head to two:
Me: Shirt | J Crew (similar here)
Shorts | Abercrombie & Fitch
Sandals | Birkenstock
Him: Shirt | Crewcuts (similar here)
Shorts | Crewcuts
Sandals | Zara Kids
I bought this shirt when my son was tiny because I had one like it and we had to match exactly. Then finding our matching short color was pretty easy. His feet though don’t grow as fast as I would like them to and he doesn’t fit in Birkinstocks yet, so we got some at Zara that were basically the same.
When it comes to summer an absolute necessity is a white shirt. And you make that a white short sleeved button up you are doing even better in your life. I love this matching look where both our shirts were from J Crew and then we had matching jean cut offs and of course Chuck Taylors.

Shoes | Converse
Sunglasses | Spy

Shorts | Peek Kids

If you’re anything like me, you live in t-shirts, shorts and sandals all summer long. Well, I like to keep things pretty basic when matching my son; solid colored shirt, fun colored shorts and matching sandals. It gets hot chasing him around all summer, so this is the outfit we love to wear when we are playing outside, either in the yard or the park.
Me: Shirt | Johnny Cupcakes
Shorts | Abercrombie & Fitch
Sandals | Birkenstock
Him: Shirt | Crewcuts
Shorts | Crewcuts
Sandals | Old Navy
Maybe one of these looks is just too much for you and you’re thinking, “I want to match, but this is a little excessive!” Well, don’t you worry, I have you covered there too. I love that Stance has made socks for both the dad and son to match one another.
Me: Socks | Stance
Him: Socks | Stance
Another brand I have always loved when it comes to buying matching father son items are the bow ties from Forage Haberdashery. They always have amazing quality, simple styles and their ties can handle my toddler (that’s something to be impressed with). I love going to church, weddings or just dressing up for the day with my son in matching bow ties by Forage Haberdashery.

Here’s the thing, as father’s we want to set an example that they will want to emulate. I may not be the best at showing him how to play sports, but I can definitely teach him what to wear.
