Welcome back! The holidays have finished and now is the time to start thinking about all the new things to start working on for the new year. I always have a hard time trying to decide if I am going to start on the Monday after Christmas, or January 1st. What I don’t have hard time trying to decide is what to wear to the gym.
Getting new gym clothes always motivates me to want to work out harder and get back at it. Fortunately, after Christmas there are always great sales going on. All of my favorite stores for workout gear have great deals going on right now, check them out here:
J Crew – Nordstrom – Abercrombie – GAP
Shirts: I was obsessed with always wearing statement shirts that would say the craziest, dumbest things on them. I feel like there is a moment in a man’s life when they need to finally grow up and decide that these aren’t appropriate anymore. Being a 32 (almost 33) year old man I think I can finally retire those obnoxious shirts.
So I keep them basic, soft, but very unique.
Jacket: The cooler weather makes it great for layering even for your daily workout. There is nothing better than a track jacket, quick and easy to get on and off depending on your temperature. I also love a jacket that will go with everything. You can use this jacket for the gym, or even when you are just out running errands to grab medicine for sick kids, dinner, or just to grab some hot chocolate.
The color blocking also makes it different, but not obnoxious. Find it here.
Sweatpants: I was not always a fan of sweatpants. I felt like they were only for sleeping at the cabin during the cold winter months, but boy was I wrong. Not only are you going to be comfortable, which is much needed when working out, but you will also keep warm. The slim style of sweatpants have become my latest obsession in that they aren’t baggy making you look like a fool and they have a stylish classic look about them.
Plenty of stores are carrying these looks. You can get these looks here and here.
Socks: Now, here is one place that I don’t care if there is a sale going on for them or not. You have to take good care of your feet, and socks tend to be the place that people don’t think about at all. Stance socks have become a staple in my home and I can’t live without them. I love a good no show sock, and Stance has done just that, but taken their unique styles even into the no show.
You can get these amazing socks here.
Shoes: If you have read anything I have ever posted you know my love for shoes. I love purchasing new gym shoes. This motivates me more than when I buy the entire new outfit. I feel like a great new pair of workout shoes will get me going. The shoes are the one thing that I usually wear that is the same each and every day. So be sure to find a pair that isn’t too crazy, but shows people the type of person you are.
Get these here.
I always like to buy a brighter colored shoe, letting people know that I am here, but that I don’t really take my exercising too serious.
Now get your new gym attire, set your alarm for the morning workout and tell yourself that this is the year that you not only are going to workout regularly, but keep in shape. Enjoy!
